Marianne was born in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1942. After finishing High School she trained in textile design and weaving. For twelve years she worked for the Swedish Textile Company Kinnasand where she was responsible for marketing and liaising between designers and architects. Marianne and Trisha Guild were the co-founders of The Swedish Designers Guild. For the past seven years she has been successfully running her own quilt studio under the name ‘QUILTCOMPANIET’. She has been involved in many educational projects in quilting, and has attended numerous conferences. Marianne and Maria Potts started the successful international group ‘THE QUILTERS OF GAMLA STAN’. She is a member of The Swedish Guild of Quilters (Rikstacket). She lives in Gamla Stan and she is married to the well-known Swedish film producer Ingemar Leijonborg. She has two sons and three grandchildren. She is passionate about quilting and design. She speaks very good English. |
